GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

• Mt Aetna Bible Church, located near Myerstown PA is seeking a qualified full-time pastor to lead the church's formal family discipleship ministries in collaboration with the other church staff, elders and volunterrs

• Bachelor's degree


• 5-10 years of pastoral experience in a local church context


• Experience leading a group of volunteers


• Experience in teaching and preaching

• Actively being formed in the image of Christ


• Meets elder qualifications (1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9)


• Healthy relational character qualities and skills


• Organizational leadership skills


• Effective communication skills

• Develop and oversee a discipleship strategy for families


• Oversight of formal discipleship of parents, children, teens and emerging adults


• Develop an effective partnership with parents


• Model a passion for and commitment to discipleship of parents and their children


• Identifying, equipping and supporting volunteers in discipleship ministries to children, teens and young adults

• Organize, communicate and direct discipleship ministries for children, youth, emerging adults and parents


• Meet with or communicate directly with parents of children and teens on a quarterly basis; develop personal relationship with parents through pastoral care, counseling and hospitality; assist in equipping and encouraging parents in the discipleship of their children


• Provide biannual training and encouragement for volunteers in discipleship ministries

• Teaching in a variety of contexts


• Occasional preaching


• Pastoral care of church members as needed


• Serve as an elder of the church


• Collaborate with other church staff in accomplishing the mission and purposes of the church

• Regular teaching in Sunday School, Bible studies and other church contexts


• Preaching in Sunday worship gatherings a minimum of eight Sundays a year


• Weekly involvement in pastoral care for church members through visitation, pastoral counseling, mentoring and hospitality


• Participation in monthly and special meetings of the elder board


• Weekly meetins with church staff for collaboration, encouragement and mutal support
