Children’s Ministry Coordinator

Asbury Memorial Church- Savannah, GA
Part-time (8-10 hours/week avg- varies)

Job Description:

Working with the Children & Family Ministries Director, church leadership and liaison to Nursery Staff and volunteers, provide support and coordination of Children’s Ministry programming activities and staff/volunteer scheduling.

Must be onsite at Asbury Memorial from 9:45 AM to 1:15 PM on Sundays as scheduled and 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM on Wednesday evenings during scheduled programming.

Supervision:

Reports to the Children & Family Ministries Director. Along with the Director, Church Administrator and Staff Parish Relations Committee, will provide an annual performance evaluation.

 Specific Responsibilities:

The Children’s Ministry Coordinator will fill the role of assisting and supporting the Children & Family Ministries Director in the following:

Prepare and lead/teach Godly Play classed in scheduled rotations or as needed

• Prepare and lead/teach Children’s Church in scheduled rotations or as needed


• Successfully prepare, implement and teach Creative Kid (10:00 AM children’s ministry) utilizing crafts, stories, music/dance, puppetry or other creative forms of expression while keeping biblically based and focused and age appropriate


• Recruit, train and support volunteers for all areas of Children’s Ministry


• Stand-in as needed for Nursery or other Children’s Ministry staff/volunteer absentees and Children & Family Ministries Director


• Plan, prepare and participate in all aspects of Vacation Bible School and other Children’s Ministry events including Wednesday Night Suppers and weeknight Godly Play and Nursery programs


• Participate in church meetings as needed (Council on Ministries, Staff…etc.)


• Decorate classrooms and bulletin boards as needed


• Support the children and their families, staff and other congregants in prayer

 Education and Experience:        

• Mature faith and personal commitment to spiritual growth


• Demonstrated passion for working with children and encouraging their spiritual growth and formation


• Teaching, child development or education administration experience


• Calm and even-tempered demeanor


• Montessori, Godly Play or similar curriculum and children’s ministry experience


• Ability to work in a diverse, open and affirming church


• College education or equivalent work experience


• 18 years of age or older
