Ministry Purpose

The role is to develop and provide spiritual, relational, organizational, administrative leadership to CrossRoads’s Youth (9^th-12^th Grade). The High School Ministry Director will serve CrossRoads youth and students High School students in the surrounding communities.

The High School Ministry Director will introduce, instruct, and nurture students in their Christian faith and in life, through Bible study, prayer, fellowship, worship, missions, and evangelism. This includes managing the Sunday School program for youth, Sunday Youth Assembly, scheduled Wednesday night activities, and other special programming. This position will also partner with directors of Vacation Bible School, Christmas programs, and other special events that may occur and that would call for students’ engagements. The Youth Ministry Director shall seek to foster a strong youth ministry program through building relationships with students, parents and church leaders that strengthen the students’ commitment to the church and growth in faith in Jesus Christ.

Reports to: Christian Formation Ministry Leader.

Responsibilities:

1. Lead Christian Formation program for Youth.


2. Recruit, train, and supervise teachers, parent helpers, and other volunteers.


3. Develop youth in their spiritual and social development by instructing and training youth to understand and implement the Bible into their lives.


4. Communicate ministry developments frequently with the Sr. Pastor and the congregation as needed.


5. Participate in the preparation and development of the Youth Ministry budget.


6. Communicate and publish activities through church bulletins, church calendar, and social media.


7. Responsible for assuring that youth are considered and included within the life of CrossRoads.


8. Encourage and coordinate outreach opportunities and summer programs for Youth as appropriate.

Qualifications:

The Director plays a major role in the faith development of youth within the church, both as a leader and as an example. CrossRoads seeks a person who has a solid understanding of the foundations of our Christian faith, the values of CrossRoads Covenant Church, and a strong desire to nurture youth in the Christian faith. This includes:

• Strong relationship with Jesus Christ


• Spiritual maturity, high moral and ethical conduct


• A sense of call and a passion for working with youth, team members, and parents


• Friendly, enthusiastic, and flexible team approach


• Excellent organizational, teaching, administration and computer/technology skills


• Ability to relate to youth and be able to teach them about Christ


• Strong written and verbal communication skills


• Spiritual gifts including but not limited to leadership, administration, and teaching


• Teachable, servant’s heart; team builder and team player


• Ability to Share the vision, philosophy of ministry, and commitments of CrossRoads


• Be in relationship with youth and their families i.e., sharing their joys and concerns and challenging their spiritual growth.


• Attend CrossRoads leadership meetings as well as other necessary meetings.

Working Conditions:

This position requires some flexibility and includes some evenings and weekends. The actual numbers of hours required during any given week are those needed to fulfill the responsibilities of the position. It is recognized that the schedule may vary at different times of the year. Expectation is that the director will be prepared to serve on Sundays as well as other specific times as agreed upon with Senior Pastor and Christian Formation Ministry Leader.
