The Flatlands Reformed Church is one of the oldest church’s in America. We have the distinction of ministering to our community for 366 years continuously. Flatlands is a Christ-centered church, and we seek to live out Jesus’s command to “love God and love others.” We are a traditional church with a deep appreciation for liturgical worship, creeds, and confessions. We also realize that God is continuously reshaping, reforming and rebirthing His Church. Music is a critical component in the renewing process of God’s work in His church. We are looking for someone who feels called by God to become a part of God’s work here at Flatlands.

The successful candidate must have at least 3-5 years of experience playing for and leading music ministry, and able to play the organ and keyboard. We are looking for someone who has demonstrated knowledge of the different genres (Hymns, Gospel, Praise, Worship, Contemporary, etc.) within Christian music and the ability to incorporate them in worship. The music director will be expected to lead the congregation in worship, and so vocals is a plus. It is absolutely critical that candidates for the position have a biblical understanding of the centrality of the Holy Spirit in worship. In addition to musical abilities, we are looking for someone who is personable, and will actively become a part of our community of faith by interacting and engaging with the congregation, and community. It is essential that the music director be able to work with the Pastor in crafting and carrying out a vision for music ministry at Flatlands. The music director is expected to play for Sunday service and for other special services (i.e., Christmas eve, Good Friday, etc.). This position offers two weeks paid vacation per year, and the music director will provide coverage in their absence.
