Job Description

Located 25 minutes outside Indianapolis, Shelbyville Community Church (http://shelbychurch.org/)  is a healthy, non-denominational church that averages 600+ on a Sunday morning. The church is seeking a full-time Pastor of Student Ministries who will help middle school and high school families and students grow in their faith in Christ. This individual will lead a ministry that grows radical disciples who live and love like Jesus.


Essential functions for this position include:



  • Provide pastoral care and support for students, parents, and families

  • Partner with parents and families to help them be the spiritual heroes in their student’s lives

  • Lead volunteer youth leaders

  • Create systems for spiritual discipleship and mentoring of students 

  • Plan, co-ordinate, and oversee weekly programming elements for middle school and high school ministries

  • Serve as primary teacher for middle school and high school ministries, equipping and training gifted volunteers to serve on a teaching team

  • Oversee annual budget and expenditures of ministry

  • Collaborate with other staff members to carry out the overall goals of the church 


Qualifications for this position are:



  • A leader who loves Jesus deeply, and wants to help others love Jesus as well 

  • A deep sense of calling to student ministry and a natural ability to relate and work well with youth and their parents

  • A leader who wants to disciple others relationally, not just programmatically 

  • At least 3 years of experience leading student ministry within a multi-staff setting

  • Bachelor’s Degree
