Location: Gloucester, VA


Pay Range & Schedule: Full-Time / Salary / Paid Bi-Weekly

POSITION SUMMARY
The Family Life Pastor is focused on supporting the Lead Pastor in overall leading of the church, with the specific responsibility to develop and grow the Children and Family Ministries of LightHouse.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:



  1.  Overall Vision and Oversight of the Ministry

    1. Create and implement a vision for the children’s ministry of LightHouse that supports and furthers the vision of LightHouse as a whole. 

      1. This includes incorporating discipleship, evangelism, missions, and hands-on ministry opportunities for children and families.



    2. Oversee all aspects of program coordination (Sundays and Wednesdays) for children from birth through 5th grade.

      1. Note: The Kids Ministry also partners with the Verge Student Ministry to provide opportunities for students in the transitional middle school years via the Junior Leadership Team.



    3. Continually assess and look ahead to identify areas of needed development and growth for LightHouse Kids.



  2. Spiritual Formation

    1. Ensure that all classes on Sundays and Wednesdays are providing strategic discipleship and opportunities for children to experience Jesus as well as equipping and empowering families to this same end.  This is accomplished through curriculum selection, service order oversight, leadership training and the launch of Families Serve Together ministry.

    2. Continue to develop resources and opportunities for families to grow spiritually and relationally.



  3. Administration – oversee the following:

    1. Ensure that all classes on Sundays and Wednesdays are fully staffed and running smoothly (Nursery-5th Grade on Sundays as well as Girls and Boys Ministries on Wednesdays)

    2. Ensure that classroom procedures are clear and followed by all team members in all classrooms

    3. Parent communication regarding general ministry announcements and activities is clear and effective

    4. Worker scheduling is organized and timely

    5. Check-in/Check-out procedures are safe and the flow is well-organized

    6. Visitor information is collected and visitor follow-up is initiated

    7. Any classroom issues that arise are properly addressed and resolved (this includes facilities and interactions)

    8. Serve as an active liaison between Little Lights and LightHouse Kids



  4. Leadership Development

    1. Coordinate teams to develop and implement the vision as well as oversee weekly workings of the ministry, including, but not limited to: Leadership Team (comprised of classroom coordinators), Discipleship Team, Design Team, Admin Team, Missions Team and Events Team

    2. Continually recruit, train and shepherd individuals to lead the above-mentioned teams, empowering them to dream for the future of their particular team (and the ministry as a whole) and continually supporting them in their endeavors.

    3. Train Students of LightHouse School of Supernatural Leadership in Children’s ministry.



  5. Community Outreach

    1. Little Lights

      1. Provide strategic support, resources and training for Little Lights families.

      2. Build relationships with the Little Lights teachers and families.

      3. Lead regularly scheduled chapel services for Little Lights classes and staff



    2. Abingdon Elementary School

      1. Oversee partnership between LightHouse and Abingdon Elementary in order to create and facilitate opportunities to serve families and teachers.





  6. Events

    1. Plan and coordinate strategic, vision based events throughout the year.




QUALIFICATIONS:



  1. Character: As reflective of Elders in Scripture – (1 Timothy 3:2-4); (Titus 1:7-9); (Philippians 2:5-8).

  2. Giftings: the spiritual gifts of pastor/leader (Eph. 4: 11), teaching (1 Cor. 12:28, Romans 12:7, Eph 4:11), leading and encouragement/exhortation (Romans 12:8).  Must be baptized in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues (Acts 1-2).

  3. Education: Theological Education with a bachelor’s degree or higher.

  4. Experience: Minimum 5+ years of experience in vocational church leadership.

  5. Training: Licensing by denominational standards.


SPECIAL DEMANDS



  1. Pressure: Leading a church requires a strong identity in Christ, dependency on the Holy Spirit, and emotional strength to deal with a variety of challenging human issues. A pastor should be steady and stable.

  2. Time: The needs of the church are not on a fixed schedule, and pastoral leadership requires flexibility in schedule in order to accommodate situations of crisis and counseling, while also maintaining a schedule that is sustainable.

  3. People: Ministry requires closely working with many people with varying life situations, beliefs, personalities and backgrounds. Pastors must be sensitive to the needs of those in their care and their community and be able to patiently and effectively reach, teach and coach them.
