Sherman Bible Church is searching for a full-time Community Minister/Pastor to help forward SBC's purpose of glorifying God by making disciples of Jesus Christ.


 SBC is a vibrant gospel-centered body of believers with a uniquely honest and open staff culture.  Our Community Ministry is key in our commitment to seeing people live and grow in gospel-centered community.


 SBC's deep commitment to submit to the scripture initiates and permeates all that we do.  Thus, we are searching for the right man of the Word to join our mission for God's glory by making disciples of Jesus Christ through gospel-centered teaching, gospel-centered worship, gospel-centered community, and gospel-centered mission.



The Community Minister or Pastor will assist the Executive Pastor of Ministries in leading all aspects of the Community Ministry at SBC. This person will contribute to the overall life of the church by providing ministerial oversight and general ministry within the many outlets of the community ministry.


 


Primary Responsibilities


Love, feed and protect Sherman Bible members through the communication and application of the gospel



  • Lead out in the development of a gospel-centered culture

  • Provide primary leadership for on-call pastoral support


Lead and oversee all community ministries



  • Assist in development and oversight of ministries

  • Provide directional leadership to participants and leaders within ministries

  • Be point person for events that fall within community ministry

  • Develop and train volunteers to do the work of the ministry


Train and care for community ministry leaders



  • Develop and disciple (individual and corporate)

  • Provide leadership and counsel

  • Reactive and proactive care to leaders

  • Set the pace for gospel-centered service and leadership


Oversee care opportunities



  • Serve as the point person for all care-related requests

  • Develop process for reactive and proactive care

  • Formulate a team of members to assist with care

  • Manage, train and care for deacons

  • Counseling


Unique Abilities and Experience



  • At least five years of experience in ministry

  • Proven track record of developing and leading within a local church context

  • Extroverted, warm, and strong gathering skills
