Senior Pastor

Mosaic Community Church, founded 20 years ago, is a racially and economically diverse congregation located on the Northside of Pittsburgh. We welcome people to come as they are into a casual environment that honors every human being as made in the image of God. We think about and engage society through the lens of Jesus Christ, His words and ministry of justice.

Our pastor is retiring after serving our congregation for more than 15 years, therefore we are currently seeking a passionate and wise individual to continue ministering to our congregation. Naturally, we expect this individual to have a profound love for Jesus Christ and a deep knowledge and understanding of the Word of God. This individual needs to be a servant leader who challenges our congregation to think critically about social justice issues as well as equips our congregation for ministry (Eph 4:12). Additionally, our new pastor must have a compassionate heart for the oppressed and desire to engage with the geographic community that surrounds our church.

Mosaic Community Church strives to foster a spirit of community and cooperation, by nurturing the people and relationships inside and outside the walls of our church. The functions and programs at our church are primarily driven by a team of dedicated congregational volunteers. We recognize that the pastor we are hiring will have limited hours each week to minister to our congregation, requiring him/her to work closely with our congregational volunteers, deacons and elders to make sure the church's needs are met.


DUTIES:

• -Prepare and deliver a weekly sermon at Mosaic's Sunday morning worship service


• -Coordinate worship, in cooperation with the church leadership, in a manner that utilizes the gifts of the congregation


• -Special sermon and service preparation (e.g. Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Christmas Eve) as approved by the session


• -Coordinate with elders, deacons and congregational volunteers to support the spiritual and physical needs of the community inside and outside the walls of the church


• -Attend monthly session meetings


• -Serve monthly communion and conduct baptisms (if ordained through the PCUSA)


• -Conduct funerals and weddings, as requested
