BACKGROUND


Doug Baker, our current Lead Pastor will be retiring this summer. Pastor Justin Windham will be stepping into the Lead Pastor position and is looking to hire a Pastor to help lead the church.


ROLE OVERVIEW


Pastor of Worship & Media Communications will work with a team of volunteers to lead the congregation in worship music each week; and will additionally oversee all areas of multimedia & marketing (A/V, graphic design, video projects, photography, social media, website updates, etc.); and other communication methods & materials (email, worship bulletin, etc.)—to support the church’s aim to encourage and edify the church body and effectively reach out to the community. It is preferable that pastor preach on occasion and is expected serve in other pastoral duties as needed.


DESCRIPTION


Under the direction of the Lead Pastor, Pastor of Worship & Media Communications will…


-Assist in planning the Sunday morning Worship Service


-Curate set-lists of contemporary & traditional worship songs that serve to reinforce the purpose/passage of each service.


-Oversee the Audio Visual (A/V) team and equipment


-Schedule & communicate well with worship & A/V volunteers


-Effectively lead a team of musicians and vocalists to glorify God and lead the congregation in worshipping Jesus through song and prayer


-Teach and encourage congregational singing and participation


-Plan & execute weekly rehearsals for worship and A/V team


-Train/mentor individuals on worship team to grow in their crafts


-Recruit & train new volunteers for worship & A/V teams


-Offer pastoral care to volunteers/team members


-Be available to lead music for special events in addition to Sunday mornings


-Create themed graphics & templates for sermon series


-Create graphics for various announcements/events


-Administer and create content for social media platforms


-Develop & oversee photography/social media team


-Oversee filming & editing of church related videos (baptisms, event highlights, ministry updates) 


-Update website 


-Send church mass email communications


-Oversee church technologies


-Help establish and reinforce church branding


-Work with lead Pastor to strategize and implement methods of attracting (marketing & outreach) and assimilating (visitor followup—>membership—>serving) new guests/families


-Assist Lead Pastor with other responsibilities as needed.

-It is preferrable that applicant be capable of and willing to preach during the Sunday Worship Service roughly once every 6-8 weeks


-Directly report to Lead Pastor


-Accountable to Lead Pastor & Board of Elders


 


ROLE REQUIREMENTS


Education


-A bachelor’s degree is required (preferably ministry/music related)


-A graduate level seminary degree is preferred


Experience


-A minimum of 2-years of paid pastoral ministry


-Can read music & has a strong grasp of music theory


-Familiarity & proficiency in playing modern praise songs & classic hymns


-Command of A/V equipment


-Has led worship music in church settings


-Has taught/preached in church settings


-Expertise in graphic design & video editing software


-Proficiency in multiple instruments preferred 


-Familiarity with ProPresenter projection software preferred


-Familiarity with Wordpress website platform preferred


-Familiarity with Planning Center: Services preferred


-Familiarity with Mac OS preferred

-Has lived/does live locally and has a good understanding of southern California culture
