At Sunnyvale Presbyterian Church our mission is to be "Rooted in Christ and Reaching out in Love." Having a children's program that loves and nurtures our youngest in faith is very much a part of this. We are currently seeking a Director of Children's Ministry to help oversee staff, manage volunteers and deliver programs that develop the spiritual lives of children birth-5th grade. We have been blessed with arich and vibrant children's program for many years and are looking forward to the future to see what plans God has for this ministry. Hours range from 30-40 hours a week with the opportunity to work with a dynamic and caring staff.

Director of Children�s Ministry



Position Overview


The Director of Children�s Ministry oversees staff and programs that develop the spiritual lives of children and youth.� The Director Children�s Ministry is a key member of the Program Staff and, as such, works collaboratively with other staff in coordinating and envisioning programs and ministry.




Key Responsibilities



  1. Vision and Mission � In conjunction with the Children�s Ministry Team of Session�



  1. Oversees comprehensive and age-appropriate ministry to children, birth through fifth grade, the scope of which includes:


    1. Biblical literacy and application�

    2. Spiritual disciplines�

    3. Intergenerational and cultural engagement in our community life together

    4. Outreach to those not currently in the church community

    5. Inclusion of all children and youth, regardless of ability, gender or sexuality, race and or economic stat

    6. Safe Church�

    7. Parenting training and support


  2. Integration of Children�s Ministry into the life of the church


    1. Integration of children and their families into the life of the church

    2. Advocacy, teaching, and awareness on issues related to the ministry to staff, session and the broader church.



Responsibilities


  1. Direct the vision of Children�s Ministry Team of Session�

  2. Direct management and oversight of the ministry to children, including but not limited to Church School, Summer Church School, Vacation Bible School, LOGOS, Children�s Choir, Nursery, Family Worship, and special seasonal events.


    1. Curriculum and program Development

    2. Volunteer development and appreciation�

    3. Financial accountability for the budget





Working Relationships



  1. Reports to Head of Staff

  2. Works as colleague with the Program Staff

  3. Direct Management of:�


    • Associate Director of Children�s Ministry

    • Inclusion Coordinator�

    • Safe Church Coordinator�

    • Child Care Coordinator

    • Children�s Choir Coordinator




Qualifications



  1. Education


Degree in Christian Education, Elementary Education or related field preferred, but not required



  1. Experience


Work with children in a Christian setting preferred
