Position Summary


The person we are seeking will oversee our children's ministries, ages birth through 5th grade. Specifically, this includes nursery ministries, kid�s church ministry on Sunday morning, 3-4 special events per year, and the midweek boys and girls clubs on Wednesday nights.��


This opportunity includes providing vision, volunteer leadership training, and serving in the ministries, as well as related ministries such as parent support.� We are a �faith begins at home� church, and the person filling this position must have an understanding of this core value as it relates to serving our families.


You will serve by leading our volunteers and / or being directly involved in these ministries. You will be responsible for recruiting, scheduling, modeling, educating, and setting up our volunteers up for success. You will seek to provide a safe, spiritually enriching and educational environment for the children and youth participating in these ministry programs in order to help them develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.


Essential Duties and Tasks



  • Reports to the Senior Pastor.

  • Recruits, completes background checks, trains, and manages the schedules of our volunteers.

  • Ensures there are sufficient, trained volunteers in place to meet the particular needs of the scheduled programs; aligns backup/emergency volunteers in the event of unforeseen schedule� changes/circumstances; teaches when necessary to fill unmet volunteer vacancies.

  • Fosters a positive environment that attracts, retains and motivates volunteers.

  • Present plans in regard to vision and curriculum to the pastor for review.�

  • Plans, coordinates and participates in community outreach events throughout the year for both the children and youth ministries with the direction of the lead pastor.

  • Oversees children and youth ministry budgets.

  • Maintains communication, interpersonal and organizational skills with church leadership, staff, volunteers and congregation.

  • Reaches out to new families to share these ministries with them.�

  • Meet with other staff for regular staff meetings. Typically Monthly.

  • Other duties as assigned.



Qualifications


Faith:



  • A solid personal relationship with Jesus Christ.�


Education and Experience:



  • High School Graduate.

  • Four year college degree preferred, but not essential.

  • A desire to teach, mentor, and disciple children with a creativity and passion.

  • Track record of building healthy volunteer teams.

  • Experience serving in kids ministry teams.

  • Prefer 2-3 years of experience but are willing to take chance on a young passionate and creative leader.

  • Because of the direct involvement with nursery, we prefer a female.


Other Requirements:



  • Must be a team player and must work well with others toward a common vision.

  • Must make New Life their home church and have a minimum of 2-3 year commitment available to serve.

  • Must be willing to serve during church times.

  • Exhibits a responsible professionalism by a conscientious work ethic, a stable mood, ability to hold confidences, passionate eye toward detail, a caring heart toward those entrusted to your care, self-starter in regard to vision, and accountability.

  • If otherwise employed, must be available for Sunday and Wednesday services, special events and staff meetings.
