Title:               Worship Choir Director


 


Purpose:        The Worship Choir Director will plan, prepare, and perform traditional Christian music with the Worship Choir.


Supervision:  The Worship Choir Director is under the direct supervision of the Worship Arts Director and is responsible to Session through the Worship and Personnel Committees.


Status:           This is a part-time exempt position without benefits.


Salary:            $40,000-$60,000

What you will be doing:



  • Provide musical leadership for the choir in worship services and seasonal concerts.

  • Collaborate with the Worship Arts Director, Organist and the Worship Planning Team to oversee musical aspects of classic Sunday worship.

  • Conduct an evening rehearsal once a week and lead worship on Sunday mornings.

  • Hire and oversee the efforts of other musicians including soloists, instrumentalists, and choir section leaders.

  • Assist choir members in developing musicianship skills (tone, pitch, rhythm, tempo and harmony).

  • Oversee the selection of music for the choir.

  • Create and distribute digital music recordings and other rehearsal resources (SATB transcriptions, etc.).

  • Attend Staff and Worship Committee Meetings.

  • Keep a consistent part-time schedule. There is flexibility to scale down during slower weeks and scale up during busier seasons.


What you should have:



  • Deep familiarity of traditional worship music (classical, gospel, contemporary).

  • Piano/Keyboard proficiency.

  • Music notation, ProPresenter and Planning Center Online software experience.

  • Strong leadership and listening skills.

  • History of success growing and recruiting new musicians (volunteer and professional).

  • A passion for sharing God’s love through music.
