Reports to: Fellowship MInistry Area Director for immediate supervision.
Works in conjunction with the Embassy Kids Team and Embassy Youth Team (name subject to change under Ministry Coordinator leadership.
The goal of this position is to guide the faith development of children (0-12) and youth (age 13 -17) by partnering with them, their families, and other church members to coordinate activities and experiences that are age appropriate using scripture, spiritual practices, prayer, community building fun, and teaching in keeping with the mission and vision of Chicago Embassy Church Network helping them develop leadership skills and sense vocation and calling.
Core Responsibilities:
Recruit and coordinate volunteers to help facilitate all ministry activities with children and youth (Gatherings, Prayer Meeting, Special Events)
Plan and facilitate Sunday school classes for multiple age groups of children and youth
Promote and assist the planning, development, and oversight of age-appropriate faith development activities for children and youth through Grow Groups structure
Plan and lead (or support) a youth group (or similar program) at least monthly
Coordinate special events in the life of the church as related to children (e.g. Teen and Junior Bible Quiz, Fine Arts, Easter Activities, Christmas Presentation, Kids Camp, etc.) and youth (e.g., Youth Sunday, mission trips, Graduation Recognition, Momentum, Youth Retreat etc.)
Ensure that the church complies with the child safety policy and procedures by training volunteers; obtaining background checks; maintaining records; recruiting the necessary volunteers for all activities; and periodically updating and maintaining the policy, procedures, and covenant statements
Build and maintain connections with children, youth, parents, and volunteers by being present during regular CECN activities
Proactively identify and welcome children, youth, and parents who are new or repeat visitors at CECN Gatherings.
Pray for the children and youth at CECN and their parents.
Be an advocate for, and educate the congregation regarding, the hopes,concerns and needs of children and youth.
Meet with the Children, Youth, and Nursery serving teams regularly to plan and coordinate
Order, collect, and distribute curriculum and supplies for children’s and youth’s ministry
Ensure that the nursery is provided with staff and volunteers during CECN Gatherings, Prayer Meeting and certain special events
Attend weekly staff meetings and other leadership meetings
Organize and maintain the children’s/youth ministry office/supply room
Submit announcements for the newsletter, website, and social media to publicize activities
Project budget needs for the Children’s and Youth Ministry for each year and work diligently to keep expenses within the budgeted amount
Qualifications
A vibrant, growing relationship with Christ
Bachelor’s degree or higher level in education, ministry, or child development
Minimum of 5 years experience working with children and youth
Understanding of Assembly of God polity, worship, and theology, or the willingness to learn
Demonstrated ability to plan, develop, coordinate, manage, and implement with a team
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, conflict management skills, and computer skills
Proven ability to work effectively with youth, parents, diverse individuals, and teams of volunteers
CPR certification or willingness to obtain
