Review of Work: Senior Pastor


Education: Masters of Divinity


Experience: At least two years of experience in ministry


Position Summary: Develop and facilitate the congregational care ministries of Butler FUMC to reach, serve and grow the hearts of the congregation and community of Butler as well as support of the Senior Pastor in worship and other pastoral activities such as weddings, baptisms and funerals.


Essential Functions:


1. Ensure the effective development, implementation and management of Congregational Care activities

a. Develop and implement care teams to branch out through the church identifying and serving needs

b. Manage hospital, nursing home, shut in care using teams of people gifted for such activity


c. Embrace new ministry opportunities for expansion of the program


d. Ensure the collection and analysis of evaluation information that measures the successn of the care program efforts, refine or change programs in response to this information as needed


2. Establish, maintain and advance congregational relations


a. Assure Congregational Care is consistently presented with a strong, positive image


b. Develop and maintain ministry opportunities for congregation members to engage in within Congregational Care


3. Ensure the effective management of Congregational Care programming according to established policies and procedures


a. Develop and maintain an appropriate volunteer structure that ensures programmatic objectives are supported through the use of trained individuals


b. Ensure a positive, healthy and safe work environment


4. Be an active member of the First Church staff and church leadership


a. Participate in staff meetings as wells as Ministry Conferences


b. Participate in development of missional directions, programs and social witness opportunities


c. Other duties as assigned to advance the mission of First United Methodist Church


5. Preaching duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor


a. Funerals, Weddings as needed.
